UCF's all-time leader in sacrifice flies, Hillary Barrow returned home and joined the Knights as an assistant coach this past week.

"It's great coming back to UCF," Barrow explained. "The team has done so much in the last year and the program has grown so much. I'm just excited to be a part of it again and I'm happy Coach Gillispie gave me this opportunity."

A native of Miami, Fla., Barrow was a member of the UCF softball team from 2007-10, and ranks in the top in in several major offensive categories including games (4th), runs scored (7th), hits (9th), doubles (2nd), home runs (8th), RBIs (4th) and walks (6th).

Aside from records, Barrow was a key member of the 2008 Conference USA Championship team and also the 2010 NCAA Tournament team. Barrow was named to the All-Tournament team in both of those seasons, proving her worth as a clutch player.

Even though she was no longer a player, Barrow was never really away the program. With her younger sister, Hayley, en route to a Conference USA All-Freshman team selection in 2012, Hillary was her biggest fan and became a fixture in the stands during both home and away games. Routinely the loudest cheering fan at the complex, Barrow was fresh in coach Gillispie's mind when it came to finding the newest member of the coaching staff.

"I found out that there was an opening in late June and I was immediately interested in the position," Barrow continued. "I called coach Gillispie right away and asked her if I could come by and just spend some time with her and the players. I got offered the spot in late August and here we are."
