UCF Athletics has announced that Jessica Francis and Cori Pinkett have joined the department’s Student Services unit.

Francis is a 2010 UCF graduate, who was an intern in the Knights’ Academic Services for Student-Athletes unit this past summer. She worked as a tutor at Florida State from 2011 through 2012 in Student-Athlete Academic Services while earning her master’s degree in sport psychology. She also served as an assistant track and field coach at Maclay School during her time in Tallahassee.

From 2005 through 2010, Francis was a staff assistant for the Florida Safety Council. During her time as a student at UCF, she was a captain on the track and field team and earned the Dr. Richard Lapchick Award for Community Service. Francis also served as the track and field representative on the UCF Student-Athlete Advisory Council and was the track and field liaison to Knights PRIDE.

In her current role at UCF, Francis will focus on setting up community service opportunities for Knight student-athletes. She will also be involved with scholarship and award nominations, mentoring, counseling and will be responsible for the Knights PRIDE newsletter.

Pinkett earned master’s degrees in business administration and sport business management from UCF in 2011. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia. While earning her master’s degree at UCF, Pinkett worked in Student Services, assisting in the development and implementation of the Knights PRIDE program. She also has experience as a Guest Services Team Leader for the Orlando Magic.

Pinkett has also worked with the UCF Marketing Department. During her undergraduate career, she was a tutor/mentor for Upward Bound and also served as a promotions intern and game-day host for Georgia Athletics.  Pinkett also completed internships in ticket sales, marketing and logistics for the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons.

In her current role at UCF, Pinkett will focus her work on social media, marketing of events, career development for student-athletes, the Student-Athlete Opportunity Fund and recruiting presentations.

Francis and Pinkett will also share a number of duties in Student Services. The two will serve as co-chairs of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, co-directors of the year-end banquet, be responsible for maintaining the Student Services web site, will search out personal and professional development opportunities for student-athletes and be involved in senior exit interviews.
