ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The American Athletic Conference recognized 166 UCF student-athletes as members of the league's All-Academic Team for 2013-14 Wednesday.
Each member of the American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team must meet the following criteria:
- Participated in an American Athletic Conference-sponsored sport;
- Attained a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 for the preceding academic year;
- Completed a minimum of two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters of academic work, with a total of 18 semester or 27 quarter credits, not including remedial courses.
Wednesday's honorees did not include the 31 UCF football student-athletes who were on The American's All-Academic Football Team, as that list was released back in February.
The Knights continue to post great academic numbers.
As a group, UCF student-athletes recently completed their 13th consecutive semester with a 3.0 GPA or better. Twelve of UCF's 16 sport programs compiled 3.0 GPAs or better during the 2013-14 academic year, as well.
Academic Progress Rate (APR) numbers released in May of this year showed a ninth consecutive year of improvement at UCF. The Knights' overall score was 977. Four UCF programs - women's tennis, women's golf, men's basketball and women's volleyball - each reported perfect APR scores of 1000 in the most recent reporting cycle.
The Knights' most recent Graduation Success Rate was a school record. At 89 percent, it was seven points higher than the national average. UCF was tied for No. 15 among FBS-level schools. Eleven of UCF's 14 programs (women's cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field are combined for the purposes of this report) either improved their previous year's total or maintained a 100 percent mark. Eleven of UCF's 14 programs came in above the national average for their sport.
