KISSIMMEE, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - Saturday morning's cross country race at Disney's Wide World of Sports saw a dramatic finish fit enough for the ESPN3 cameras on site.

UCF sophomore Anne-Marie Blaney hovered among the top of the pack for the majority of the 5K, but her final kick down the stretch was enough to pass Florida's Julie Macedo in a photo finish across the line for the second place trophy.

She ensured her streak of top-three finishes this season remained intact with her time of 17:33.12, just two seconds off leader Tina Oprean of Malone.

Of the 200 runners who participated, the Knights boasted five among the top-40 finishers to clinch third place - their third top-three performance of the season.

"The team is very excited overall," UCF cross country coach Johnny Gray said. "They are pleased with how they are performing, they are consistent and they are executing everything that I'm asking them to. I'm excited that they are finishing and trusting their shape and gaining confidence - that's what it takes to get better."

Sophomore Heather Classe (18:23.53) earned a medal with her top-10 finish. Sophomore Amy Ankli (18:26.47) secured 12th place while junior Amelia Williams helped score points with her time of 19:14.48.

Senior Erica Winston produced a season-best 19:33.40 as the Knights' fifth finisher.

UCF will have its final test of the regular season on its home course on Oct. 18 at 5 p.m.
