ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF cross country team and sophomore standout Anne-Marie Blaney were both honored by the USTFCCCA for their performances in the classroom Friday.

For the second-straight year, the Knights were recognized as an all-academic team for earning a combined grade-point average of 3.0 or better. UCF was among 217 women's programs around the country to earn the distinction this year.

Blaney was one of 129 runners in the country to be singled out with USTFCCCA All-Academic honors. Honorees must have compiled a cumulative GPA or 3.25 or greater and must have finished as an All-American or among the 15 finishers (or 10 percent) in their regional meet. The 129 women represent 78 different institutions and 21 different conferences.

Blaney, a health sciences major, finished a program-best 11th place at the regional meet. She was named the American Athletic Conference's XC Athlete of the Week five out of of the seven possible opportunities given to American runners. She was the only cross country athlete, male or female, to earn multiple weekly awards.
