ORLANDO, Fla. ( - After a magical finish at the 18th Annual Disney Cross Country Classic last week, UCF cross country returns home to host the 2013 UCF Cross Country Invitational on Friday, Oct. 18.

The Knights enjoyed a successful weekend at the Disney Classic, where they tallied 96 points for a third place team finish along with two top-10 finishes from Anne-Marie Blaney (2nd, 17:33.12) and Heather Classe (10th, 18:23.53), and will look to carry that momentum in Friday's meet.

Blaney broke UCF's freshman record with a time of 21:34.98 in last season's Challenge; nearly a minute faster than the previous record. The Knights nailed a second-place finish in the event a year ago to edge out 10 other teams, and yielded a top-three finish from Blaney.

The UCF Cross Country Invitational is a free event and will serve as cross country's pink event. Participants and fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness.

The women's 6k is set for a 5 p.m. start at the UCF Cross Country Course, while the men's 8k will begin at 5:45 p.m. Complete results will be posted online at at the completion of the event.
