ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - With the 2014 season just around the corner, the UCF baseball team will field a 2014 squad that features 24 newcomers. UCFKnights.com will introduce you to each fresh face with a Q and A session as part of the "Know Your Knights" series. 

Freshman outfielder Eugene Vazquez joins the Knights after a successful four-year career at Timber Creek High School in Orlando. He showed off his incredible versatility by winning Hitter of the Year, Pitcher of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year (twice) all in separate seasons.

Question 1: Why did you choose to play for the Knights?

EV: They’re a great program, they’ve grown over the years. They’ve become better and I live close to home so it’s nice to be able to have my family come see me and I get to see them a lot, and the atmosphere is great. We are all a family here. Everyone gets a long and it’s just great.

Question 2: What's been the biggest adjustment you've had to make to the college game so far?

EV: Everything is much quicker, and just dealing with college work on top of baseball, it’s a lot tougher so I have to get on top of things a lot quicker.

Question 3: Who’s your favorite MLB player and team, and why?

EV: My favorite team is the Yankees and my favorite player is Robinson Canó. He’s my favorite player because he’s a lefty and his game is very smooth, he doesn’t seem to let things get to him.

Question 4: What's your favorite thing to do when you're not on the field?

EV: My favorite thing to do is to relax at the house, maybe play some video games. Some PlayStation or Xbox, just to get away from baseball and relax my body and relax that stuff.

Question 5: What is your favorite restaurant in Orlando?

EV: I’m going to have to say Texas de Brazil

Question 6: What's your favorite TV show?

EV: My favorite television show might have to be Arrow. (Are you a comic book guy?) Yeah, I love them.

Question 7: What will your walkup song be?

EV: I’m not sure, I have a couple of them. It’s definitely going to be a Drake song, maybe “Trophies”?

Question 8: What country would you most like to visit?

EV: Brazil.

Question 9: What parts of your game are you trying to improve?

EV: Pretty much hitting, recognizing pitches better. Because I know everything at college is much quicker. Pitching is much better.

Question 10: What's your favorite thing about Orlando?

EV: There is a lot to do, you can go to movies, you can go bowling, and you can go to the beach, which is just 40 minutes away. There is just a lot to do, you can go fishing, go on a lake.

Question 11: What's one thing your teammates would be surprised to know about you?

EV: I’m not sure, they know a lot already. I’m not sure how to answer that one.

Question 12: Who is the guy in the clubhouse that keeps it most upbeat?

EV: Tyler Martin. Tyler is definitely the most outgoing.

Question 13: Nickname of your first little league team?

EV: The Boston Red Sox. I played at East Orange.

Question 14: What non-athlete would you want to meet most and why?

EV: Martin Luther King Jr. to see how he thought about things and why he did stuff.

Question 15: If you could have one superpower, which would you choose?

EV: Super Strength. Or maybe super speed.

Question 16: At which store would you like to max out a credit card?

EV: Dick’s Sporting Goods.

Question 17: What's the farthest you've been from home?

EV: New York

Question 18: If you were selecting 3-4 movies for a long bus trip, what would you pick?

EV: Friday Night Lights, I have to go with a comedy so a Kevin Hart standup, Avengers, Olympus Has Fallen and one of the Bourne movies.

Question 19: Most played song on your iPod?

EV: “Hold On, We're Going Home” by Drake.

Question 20: Dream date?

EV: Who’s the Victoria Secret Top model? Adriana Lima, definitely her.
