ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - With the 2014 season just around the corner, the UCF baseball team will field a 2014 squad that features 24 newcomers. UCFKnights.com will introduce you to each fresh face with a Q and A session as part of the "Know Your Knights" series.

Freshman catcher Kyle Perkins joins the Knights after a letter-winning career at Palm Beach Central under head coach Scott Benedict. He was chosen as the catcher to represent Palm Beach Central at the annual Dick Howser All-Star Game.

Question 1: Why did you choose to play for the Knights?

KP: I fell in love with the baseball program first, but then I found out UCF has a great engineering program as well, which is what I really want to do.

Question 2: What's been the biggest adjustment you've had to make to the college game so far?

KP: Managing my time. Working my study hall hours, getting all my routines in and trying to find a way to get better each and every day.

Question 3: Who’s your favorite MLB player and team, and why?

KP: Definitely the Boston Red Sox and Nomar Garciaparra. (How about current player?) Big Papi.

Question 4: What's your favorite thing to do when you're not on the field?

KP: I like to watch Netflix and play Xbox. But I don’t have a lot of time for Xbox anymore.

Question 5: What is your favorite restaurant in Orlando?

KP: Jimmy Hula’s. It’s right up the road and so good.

Question 6: What's your favorite TV show?

KP: The Walking Dead. I try and watch one episode every night.

Question 7: What will your walkup song be?

KP: “Survival” by Eminem

KP: Italy.

Question 9: What parts of your game are you trying to improve?

KP: Getting to know the pitchers better so I can adjust to the movement of each guy’s pitches.

Question 10: What's your favorite thing about Orlando?

KP: I think it’s the theme parks. Engineering drew me to wanting to build roller coasters and that’s an option for me when I get older. I love going to theme parks and riding roller coasters.

Question 11: What's one thing your teammates would be surprised to know about you?

KP: I love beat boxing. I show it off all the time so it’s not really a surprise, but I’m really a beast beat boxer.

Question 12: Who is the guy in the clubhouse that keeps it most upbeat?

KP: Tyler Martin. (You realize everyone has said Martin so far right?) It’s true though. That guy always breaks the ice and gets everyone ready and loose.

Question 13: Nickname of your first little league team?

KP: The Warriors

Question 14: What non-athlete would you want to meet most and why?

KP: Leonardo DiCaprio. He’s my favorite actor and he’s one of the best at what he does.

Question 15: If you could have one superpower, which would you choose?

KP: The ability to turn invisible. I could avoid people and go off and do my own things.

Question 16: At which store would you like to max out a credit card?

KP: Publix. Save my parents some money, stock up on food, not too much junk food though.

Question 17: What's the farthest you've been from home?

I have family up in Buffalo, N.Y. so when I visit them that’s the furthest.

Question 18: If you were selecting movies for a bus trip, what would you pick first?

KP: SuperBad, Stepbrothers, Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, Star Wars Episode 3

Question 19: Most played song on your iPod?

Question 20: Dream date?

KP: Jessica Alba.
