ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - With the 2014 season just around the corner, the UCF baseball team will field a 2014 squad that features 24 newcomers. UCFKnights.com will introduce you to each fresh face with a Q and A session as part of the "Know Your Knights" series.

Junior pitcher Parker Thomas appeared in 17 games and logged 42 innings on the mound at Weatherford College while pitching for Jeff Lightfoot last season. At Texarkana College under Steve Trout, he compiled a 6-3 record in 12 appearances with 51 2/3 innings pitched.

Question 1: Why did you choose to play for the Knights?

PT: There’s nothing else like this university. I enjoy the coaches, the facilities, the campus itself. I’m an accounting major so that was a selling point as well.

Question 2: What's been the biggest adjustment you've had to make to the college game so far?

PT: The mental game. It’s a lot different. You have to act differently mentally. You have to get into a routine every single day.

Question 3: Who's your favorite MLB player and team, and why?

PT: My favorite player is Billy Wagner. He’s a short lefty from Texas like me. I can’t let it rip like him, but I try my best. Favorite team is the Rangers.

Question 4: What's your favorite thing to do when you're not on the field?

PT: I like to hang out with my friends. I’m an outdoorsman, so I try and hunt and fish when I can. I've been pond hopping with Jordan Savinon a couple of times.

Question 5: What is your favorite restaurant in Orlando?

PT: It’s cliché, but Huey Magoos. We have a place back in Texas called Raising Canes that’s similar but Huey’s knocks it off the charts.

Question 6: What's your favorite TV show?

PT: Right now it’s Two and a Half Men. All-time, Fresh Price of Bel Air.

Question 7: What will your walkup song be?

PT: "Days of Gold” by Jake Owen.

Question 8: What country would you most like to visit?

PT: Peru. I’ve always wanted to see Machu Picchu.

Question 9: What parts of your game are you trying to improve?

PT: Staying consistent. Doing things the right way, over and over again.

Question 10: What's your favorite thing about Orlando?

PT: The diversity. I’m from Houston so the weather is similar, but the people here are a lot more diverse.

Question 11: What's one thing your teammates would be surprised to know about you?

PT: A couple of my teammates know, my roommates especially, but I am an ultra-neat freak. I’m very organized. I get on Sam Tolleson and Zach Rodgers all the time about the dishes and taking out the trash. The living room and the kitchen just have to be clean. Mentally, if everything is neat, I can get into my routines without having to worry about things.

Question 12: Who is the guy in the clubhouse that keeps it most upbeat? People have said you.

PT: Tyler Martin is the obvious choice, but I’ll say Eric Skoglund. When a song comes on, he’ll do this goofy dance and he’s so lanky it just cracks me up.

Question 13: Nickname of your first little league team?

PT: The Rockets, back in the T-ball days at the YMCA.

Question 14: What non-athlete would you want to meet most and why?

PT: Mark Wahlberg. He’s got a lot of history. I found out that the show Entourage was kind of based on his life which is pretty cool.

Question 15: If you could have one superpower, which would you choose?

PT: To read minds. I’d read the hitters minds. If they are thinking curve, I’m coming with the heater.

Question 16: At which store would you like to max out a credit card?

PT: They don’t have them here, but Academy Sports and Outdoors. It’s like a Dick’s Sporting Goods combined with a Bass Pro Shops. It’s like the best of all worlds.

Question 17: What's the farthest you've been from home?

PT: I played summer ball in Saskatchewan, Canada. It was a great experience.

Question 18: If you were selecting movies for a bus trip, what would you pick first?

PT: The Rookie, Glory Road, Miracle and for a comedy I don’t want to be cliché, but I’d pick Major League. It’s a classic.

Question 19: Most played song on your iPod?

PT: “Get Me Some of That” by Thomas Rhett.

Question 20: Dream date?

PT: My girlfriend, Kayla Freeman.
