PEARL, Miss. (UCFAthletics.com) - With its best regular season in the books since joining Conference USA in 2005-06, the No. 16 UCF baseball team had a program-best seven student-athletes earn All-C-USA awards Tuesday afternoon.

Juniors D.J. Hicks (IF) and Joe Rogers (RP) were All-C-USA First Team selections, while seniors Travis Shreve (IF) and Alex Friedrich (OF), junior Ronnie Richardson (OF) and sophomore Ben Lively (P) were named to the All-C-USA Second Team. Rookie lefty Eric Skoglund (P) became the 10th Knight all-time to earn a slot on the C-USA All-Freshman Team.

Since head coach Terry Rooney took over the program prior to the 2009 season, the Knights have had at least one representative on the first and second teams as well as on the all-freshmen squad. This year's number of recipients is the highest in program history.

For Hicks, this is the third time in his career that he has been honored by the league. In 2009 he was a member of the all-freshman team and was named to the second unit a year ago. As the C-USA Preseason Player of the Year, he led the league in the regular season with 68 RBI, 48 walks and 10 sacrifice flies, all career-highs.

These are the second-career honors for Lively and Rogers as they both were named to the C-USA All-Freshman Teams in years past. This season, Lively notched a career-best eight wins on the mound and Rogers broke the all-time saves record at UCF while leading the league with 12 during the year.

First-time winners, Shreve, Friedrich and Richardson have all been catalysts to UCF's offense this season. Manning second base for the Knights for two years, Shreve finished third in C-USA with a .357 batting average, including 13 doubles and 15 steals mostly from the No. 9 hole.

Roaming the outfield for UCF in 2012, both Friedrich and Richardson brought pop to the lineup while adding superior defense. Friedrich led C-USA with 21 doubles while also stealing 15 bags. Richardson led the league with 30 hit-by-pitches and also smashed eight home runs while sporting an on-base percentage of .475, second overall in C-USA. The duo also saved many runs from the scoreboard with a combined 15 outfield assists.

A 6-foot-7 lefty from Sarasota, Skoglund gave the Knights a boost on the mound during the regular season. He amassed a 5-1 record while leading all starters with a 2.01 ERA, including wins over No. 9 Miami, South Florida, Florida Atlantic, Harvard and Siena.

As a No. 2 seed in the C-USA Tournament this week in Pearl Miss., the Knights will take on UAB on Thursday at noon, East Carolina at 4 p.m. on Friday and Tulane at noon on Saturday. Should UCF own the best record in its pod, it will earn a slot in the championship game slated for 2 p.m. Sunday on CBS Sports Network.
