ORLANDO, Florida (UCFKnights.com) – The 2014 Knights kicked off the fall baseball season Tuesday afternoon with the start of team practice. Head coach Terry Rooney and his staff were able to bring the team together for its first full-squad workout as UCF baseball began its preparations for its first season in the American Athletic Conference.
“Today was a very good day,” Rooney said. “We battled some inclement weather, but still had a very productive day. The most important thing for us was to get out there and work on team fundamentals, specifically team defense. We were able to get that in before the rain came. We just want to get better every single day.”
All practice sessions are open to the public, so fans can grab a sneak peek at the UCF brand of baseball that is set to return in February. Some key fall baseball dates to keep open are Scout Day on Oct. 22, and the Black & Gold World Series that is set to take place Oct. 30-Nov. 1.
Scheduled times that the Knights will be on the field include Mondays at 2 p.m., Tuesdays, Thursday and Fridays at 2:45 p.m. and each Sunday afternoon under the lights beginning at 5 p.m. The squad will scrimmage against each other each Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
The fall schedule is subject to change. For further questions, please contact the UCF Baseball Office at 407-823-4869.
