ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - In this season of giving thanks, UCF student-athletes continue to show their appreciation towards the Orlando community by giving back tenfold during the fall semester. With over 1,200 service hours over the last five months, the Knights have no plans to slow down with their work in the community.

From interacting with young students at teach-ins, to the spirit team coordinating routines at a special needs cheer camp, the Knights continue to make a difference in many people's lives.

The great part about UCF student-athletes is there willingness to go beyond any required amount of service. With over 36,000 people having felt the positive affect by the Knights, there is an overwhelming appreciation felt by the greater Orlando community.

"Our players serve as role models to all in the Orlando area," said head baseball coach Terry Rooney, whose team has been very active off the field this fall. "By being a student-athlete at UCF, they have been a provided platform not only on the playing field, but in the community as well."

Just in the month of November, nearly every athletic team has taken part in a service event, including teach-ins at East Lake Elementary, Jack Heights Middle School and Maitland Middle School. Various student-athletes have also assisted with mock interviews at the Junior Leadership Institute, the Autism Speaks Walk and aiding at the Miracle League and Florida Hospital for Children.
