ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Prior to the Thanksgiving break, the UCF baseball team wrapped up its fall workouts with the annual Knights Challenge. This grueling workout setup by head coach Terry Rooney's staff, along with strength and conditioning assistant coach Luke Day, started at 6 a.m. inside the weight room in the Wayne Densch Sports Center and finished at home plate at the UCF baseball complex.
The competition featured 32 members of the team grouped into four squads going head-to-head against the clock to see who could complete the course in the fastest time. Junior pitcher Tyler Martin claimed his first individual title when he crossed home plate in 30:31. Overall, assistant coach Ryan Klosterman’s group consisting of JoMarcos Woods, Dylan Moore, Kyle Perkins, Hayden Platt, Eugene Vazquez, Kam Gellinger, Sam Tolleson and Tommy Williams claimed the team title.
The Knights will kick off preseason camp after winter break with the first game of the 2014 season scheduled for Feburary 14th.
