Lavell Payne scored a career-high 26 points at Houston. His previous career-best was 14 points, recorded this season at UAB.

• Payne hit his first 3-pointer of the season in the first half.

Josh Peppers led UCF and matched a season-high with seven rebounds.

Mike Battle tied a career-high with two steals. UCF totaled nine steals for the game.

• The contest served as a homecoming for UCF guard Chip Cartwright, who is a Houston native. He scored two points in seven minutes of action.

• UCF's bench outscored Houston's reserves, 21-0.

• The Golden Knights have played three overtime games this year after not playing a single extra-session contest in 2005-06.

• The Golden Knights lost for the first time this year after leading at halftime. They entered the game 12-0 when leading at intermission.

• UCF was playing its fifth road game of the month. The Golden Knights have six contests away from Orlando in January.

• The contest was the first of two-straight for the Golden Knights in the Lone Star State. The team plays at UTEP in El Paso on Saturday.
