ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Jarrett Schweim has joined the UCF Athletics Department as an Athletic Trainer.  He will work directly with the men’s basketball and men’s golf teams for the Knights.

Schweim joins the Knights after one year as an Associate Athletic Trainer at the University of Georgia.  While with the Bulldogs, he worked exclusively with the men’s basketball program.  Prior to that Schweim spent three years as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at the University of Florida, working directly with the Gator football program.

“UCF Athletics is a very exciting organization to be a part of," Schweim said.  "The entire staff has been very welcoming and has instantly made me feel like I am part of the UCF Family.  The staff has a great deal of positive energy and is very unselfish.  Each individual will do whatever it takes to bring the Sports Medicine Program and Athletic Program to the next level.  This is a great company to work for and Orlando is a wonderful place to live.”

Prior to his most recent time at Florida, Schweim served three years -- the first two as a Graduate Assistant and the latter as a full-time Assistant Trainer in the athletics program at Ohio State University.  He worked primarily with the Buckeyes' football and men's tennis teams.

A native of St. Augustine, Fla., Schweim is a 2006 graduate of the University of Florida, with a degree in Athletic Training.  He earned his Master's degree in Allied Health Management from Ohio State in 2009.

Upon graduating from Florida, Schweim served a one-year internship as an Intern Athletic Trainer with the Gators' men’s basketball team.  During that time he worked with UCF Head Men’s Basketball Coach Donnie Jones, who was then an assistant coach at Florida, and the Gators went on to win the NCAA championship.

"I'm so happy to have Jarrett join our family at UCF," Jones said.  "He brings a high level of experience and expertise to our program.  Having been at Florida, Georgia, and Ohio State, he understands the standard we are building here for our program."

Schweim is married to the former Emily Mills of Plant City, Fla.
