ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Keith Clanton had more than a few memorable moments inside the CFE Arena during his playing career. He led the Knights to some of their biggest wins in program history. The Orlando native broke numerous records, including becoming the program's all-time leader in rebounds.
But perhaps his biggest moment inside the arena came Saturday when he earned his bachelor's degree.
The greatest post player in UCF history is now a UCF graduate.
"This is a huge accomplishment and I have am extremely happy," Clanton said. "My mom is so happy and I am just proud that I could make her happy."
Clanton worked hard to finish his degree in just over four years. His final semester was a challenge as he spent the summer working out for professional teams and had a stint with the Orlando Magic's summer league squad.
Head coach Donnie Jones was in attendance as his former power forward received his degree in interdisciplinary studies with a minor in hospitality management.
"I could not be more proud of Keith. He has and will continue to mean so much to our program, this university and this community," Jones said. "Graduating was very important to Keith and his mother and we are so proud that he now has his college degree."
Clanton is not sure of his next step basketball-wise, but says that he has several professional opportunities. And when he starts his pro career, Clanton will do so as a college graduate.
