ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - Isaiah Sykes will enter his senior campaign among the UCF career leaders in several statistical categories and will have at least 30 opportunities this season to move up the lists.
Sykes currently ranks 16th at UCF in scoring at 1,030 points, and is 11th on the Division I only points register. The Detroit native is also ninth overall and sixth at the D-I level with 547 career rebounds.
His 132 steals rank ninth with the Knights and he is also ninth with 401 free-throw attempts.
He has 231 career assists and needs only 13 to enter the UCF top-10 in that category as well.
A year ago, Sykes developed into one the most versatile players in the country. He led the nation with two triple-doubles and averaged 16.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.3 steals in 35.4 minutes an outing. Sykes scored in double figures 27 times and had 12 20-point performances.
In 2013-14, Sykes will help lead the Knights in their first campaign in the American Athletic Conference. In the new league, UCF will face some of the nation's top programs, including defending national champion Louisville, UConn, Memphis, Cincinnati and Temple.
