ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - On Monday, UCF men's basketball head coach Kirk Speraw announced that Kevin Brown has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the UCF program next fall. Brown is a 6-foot-2, 205-pound guard from Houston, Texas.
As a junior in 2008-09, Brown averaged 16.0 points, 5.1 assists and 2.1 steals at Elsik High School. After the regular season, he earned All-District 18-5A First Team honors.
"Kevin is a quality young man who will fit in well with our basketball family," Speraw said. "He is an outstanding student who comes from a great family. Kevin is a versatile, highly-skilled guard. We are excited about him coming aboard."
This past summer, Brown played on the AAU circuit with the Houston Hurricanes and HP Elite.
On the high school level, he is coached by Tim Martin.
"Kevin is a great person," Martin said. "He is a quality young man. The UCF staff is getting a really good person and a really good basketball player in Kevin Brown. He can make plays. He is going to be able to get the ball to their scorers and post players. He is not a bad offensive player himself. He shoots the ball very well."
The Knights, who are 1-0 in 2009-10 after posting an 84-67 win over Massachusetts last week, will return to action Tuesday, hosting Howard at the UCF Arena.
