ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Off to an impressive start this season, the UCF men's basketball team will look to improve to 3-0 Sunday when it hosts Savannah State at 2 p.m. at the UCF Arena. The Knights have won both of their contests this year, including the season opener at cross-state rival USF, by an average of 23.5 points.
After crushing the Bulls, 74-56, in Tampa last weekend, the Knights had their home opener Tuesday. Behind strong performances from Keith Clanton and Isaiah Sykes, UCF rolled to an 85-56 victory over Alabama State. Clanton had his second-straight double-double with 20 points and 11 boards, while Sykes continued to fill up the stat sheet with 23 points and seven assists.
UCF is averaging 79.5 points this season, compared to 56.0 points for its opponents. The Knights enter Sunday's contest with a +13.0 rebounding margin.
Season tickets, which start at only $96, are currently available by calling (407) UCF-1000 or by visiting UCFAthletics.com. The contest against Savannah State is the first home game on a Sunday for the Knights since 2008.
Savannah State is 3-1 this season. A year ago, the Tigers won 22 games, claimed the MEAC regular-season championship and earned a spot in the postseason NIT. The game is the first of three this week for the Knights, who will host Middle Tennessee State Tuesday and then head to Gainesville to meet No. 10 Florida Friday.
On Sunday, fans can purchase tickets prior to the game at the UCF Arena box office. UCF students are admitted free to all home contests with a valid school ID.
UCF-Savannah State will air on the UCF IMG Sports Network and its flagship station, 740 The Game in Orlando. Marc Daniels will have the call and will be joined by former UCF guard Taylor Young. Live video and statistics will be available at UCFAthletics.com.
