-Coached by Jess Simpson at Buford, which claimed the Georgia AAA state championship in 2012 and lost only six games in the past 10 years
-Lettered three years at Buford as a running back and linebacker
-Buford defeated St. Pius in the 2012 title game, 10-3, with Wilson's 39-yard fourth-down, fourth-quarter touchdown run serving as the difference
-With the title in 2012, Buford won its fourth state championship in five years

-Rushed for 1,000 yards on 125 carries in 2011, and collected 43 tackles with three sacks on defense
-Chose UCF over Arkansas State, Cincinnati, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, USF, Southern Miss and Western Kentucky
