Team Notes
The Golden Knights (5-3, 4-1 C-USA) continued their run as the nation's most improved team with a 30-20 win over East Carolina. UCF has five wins on the season after going 0-11 in 2004. The +5 improvement in victories is the best in the nation, followed by Penn State (+3) and Western Michigan (+3). Both Penn State and Western Michigan were in action during the time of this release.

UCF and East Carolina played for the fifth time in series history and the first as members of Conference USA. The Golden Knights won their first game ever vs. the Pirates. It also marked their first road win in C-USA.

UCF improves to 4-1 in the month of October this season. The monthly mark is the best October since 1998 when Daunte Culpepper led the Golden Knights to a perfect 4-0 mark during the month.

With Augustus Ashley's interception in the first quarter, UCF has at least one interception in six straight games. The six consecutive games with an interception for the Golden Knights is tied for the second-longest streak in UCF's Division I-A history.

UCF is 4-0 when leading at halftime under George O'Leary.

Player Notes
Redshirt freshman Augustus Ashley made his first career start at free safety. He is the 45th player on the UCF roster with at least one game of starting experience. He is the 13th different freshman for UCF to start in 2005.

Ashley recorded his first career interception on East Carolina's first drive of the game to give the Golden Knights possession inside the ECU 50-yard line.

Freshman CB Joe Burnett recorded an interception in the fourth quarter. He has three interceptions in the last two games.

Junior QB Steven Moffett has thrown a touchdown pass in 11 straight games. The 11-game streak is good for sixth all-time in school history.

Junior TB Jason Peters scored on a 67-yard touchdown run - the longest rush by a Golden Knight in 2005 - to give UCF a 17-3 lead. He posted his second consecutive 100-yard game with 113 yards and had a career-best two scores.

The 67-yard touchdown run tied for the fifth-longest rush in school history and the fourth-longest TD run in the UCF annals. It was the longest TD run by a UCF player since Daunte Culpepper's 75-yard touchdown run at Kent State in 1997.

Junior WR Mike Walker had 110 yards on seven receptions. He matched a career-high with two touchdown catches.
