George O'Leary Opening Statement:
It was a good win, a conference win. It gives us our sixth (win) which at least gives us eligibility for a bowl. I'm happy for the players but that is not where it ends. We still have three games left. We will take them one game at a time. I thought we played well in spots today. Overall, I thought it was a good game both offensively and defensively. Overall, a good win, and good conference win.
On Bowl Eligibility:
Well, you need six to be eligible, but I think it matters on how you end up these next three games. Each game is important. The (Conference USA) title helps obviously, but all we can do is take care of what we can do.
On wide receiver Brian Watters:
I said a couple of weeks ago that I thought he was the guy coming on athletically. He was on all the special teams units. He is a good redshirt freshman and I think he'll get better when he matures and understands the game better. I think he is a good athlete.
#24 Running Back Kevin Smith
On two runs more than 80 yards this season:
I follow my offensive line. They are the wheels on the bus that make it go round and round. I am just following those guys. The lane had a lot of real estate. I just made one cut and got north and south and made it to the promised land.
#6 Wide Receiver Brian Watters:
On playing a role in the offense:
Coach (David) Kelly always tells me that I need to step up. In practice, I just take the tips that he gives me. He is a real good coach. I give him all the credit. He has always said I have the ability and it was my turn to do what I had to do.
