UCF HEAD COACH George O'Leary
On his team's performance tonight, and now at the final part of the season:
"We had sporadic strides in the first part of the season. A lot of it had to do with injuries. I think it is a little bit of more confidence (now) with each game on all three phases - offense, defense and the kicking game. That was a good offensive team there (SMU). I thought we did well. We've still got to work on tackling. As I said to the team, it was a good team win. But we'll be practicing on Monday. That is how it works."
On his team's philosophy when it comes to competing for a C-USA Championship:
"We play it one at a time. We've got to beat UTEP (next week). I remember the last time we were there, it wasn't too nice to us. We'll have our work cut out for us and let's see if we can play one at a time and continue to do what we are doing."
SMU HEAD COACH JUNE JONES
On losing after winning the past two games:
"We didn't play our best, we knew it would take our best to win whenever you're on the road. The one mistake on the punt, we were one play away from getting in that game. The kids played hard, we just couldn't get anything going in the second half offensively. And they play good defense."
On UCF's ability to find gaps:
"That was a little bit surprising, we weren't anticipating them to be able to do that. But they do a great job on their scheme and Latavius (Murray) does a good job finding the creases."
On UCF's offensive line:
"They did a good job, we busted some gap control stuff. But I thought we played well enough on defense, had we been answering the call on the other side of the ball to make it a competitive game. You lose you're energy when you're constantly going back out there to play defense."
