Kevin Smith continued to rewrite the UCF record books Saturday.

Nov. 10, 2007

Recap |  Final Stats

• The four-game winning streak for the Knights is the longest since the 2005 season when UCF reeled off five straight.

• UCF improved to 5-0 in the all-time series with UAB - that is the best record against any team in program history (at least five games).

• With the score 17-17 at halftime, it marked the first time this season UCF was tied with an opponent at intermission.

• Junior Kevin Smith broke the UCF single-season rushing mark in the opening quarter with a 20-yard run and finished the game with a single-game school record of 320 yards. Smith needed 64 yards coming into the contest to set the mark, which was previously held by Marquette Smith (1,511 - 1995). Smith now has 1,768 rushing yards on the season. Smith's 320-yard total was the third highest in the FBS this season.

• Smith moved into fourth place on the C-USA charts for rushing yards in a season and tied the C-USA record with his 22nd rushing touchdown of the season. His 23 total touchdowns also tied the league's single-season record. Both records were held by DeAngelo Williams of Memphis (22 and 23, respectively in 2004).

• Smith's four rushing touchdowns gave him eight-multiple touchdown games this season and tied the school's single-game record (Alex Haynes, 2001 vs. Tulane).

• Smith has 853 rushing yards (213 ypg) and 10 touchdowns during the Knights' four-game winning streak.

• Smith leads the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision with 23 total touchdowns and 22 rushing touchdowns.

• With his 41 rushing attempts, Smith moved past Alex Haynes (742 carries; 2001-04) for the top spot on the UCF career charts and Marquette Smith (274 carries; 1995) on the single-season charts. Smith now has 764 rushing attempts in his career and 310 this season.

• Smith's 310 attempts are also a single-season record for a running back in the state of Florida and his single-season total of 1,768 yards is the highest total by a running back in the history of Florida college football (Willis McGahee, Miami (Fla.); 1,753 yards in 2002).

• Smith's 100-yard rushing game was his ninth of the season and 18th of his career. He is one of only two backs in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision with nine 100-yard rushing efforts this season (Calvin Dawson; Louisiana-Monroe).

• Smith had six carries of 20-plus yards in the game, giving him 20 on the season. Smith had rushes of 36, 24, 23, 20, 20 and a 42-yard touchdown scamper on his last carry of the game.

• Senior Curtis Francis' 51-yard touchdown run in the third quarter was the first of his career. It was also the longest rush of his career. Francis' touchdown was his second of the season. Francis had a 93-yard kickoff return for a score vs. East Carolina (Oct. 6).

• Junior Rocky Ross collected his first touchdown reception of the season and third of his career with a four-yard catch in the fourth quarter.

• With four rushing touchdowns in the game, the Knights set a single-season school record with 31. The 1990 UCF team held the previous mark of 30. The team also rushed for a season-high of 402 yards, which was the highest by the school since its move up to the FBS in 1996.

• Junior Jake Howard connected on a 44-yard field goal in the first quarter, which was the first attempt of his career. Howard is the third kicker this season to make a field goal for the Knights. He joins seniors Michael Torres (13-for-15) and Robert Batista (1-for-1) with makes this season. Howard was also 6-for-6 on point-after attempts in the game.

• Freshman Khymest Williams opened the game with a season-long, 63-yard kickoff return.
