ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - UCF junior quarterback Blake Bortles and junior running back Storm Johnsonannounced Monday they have declared for the 2014 NFL Draft. They will leave the Knights after helping guide the program to a 12-1 record this season, the American Athletic Conference title and a victory over No. 6 Baylor in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.

Press Conference Transcript

A native of Oviedo, Bortles has been the Black and Gold's starting quarterback for the last two campaigns after redshirting in 2010 and playing in 10 games off the bench in 2011. Since going 8-for-10 for 144 yards in his collegiate debut against Charleston Southern, Bortles has thrown for 7,598 yards and 56 touchdowns. He also has rushed for 561 yards and 15 scores.

The American's 2013 Offensive Player of the Year ended his UCF career by completing his final nine passes of the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.

Bortles' record as a starter in a Black and Gold uniform was 22-5. That included two wins over top-10 teams in 2013. Also this season, his leadership on the field enabled the Knights to go 7-1 in games decided by seven points or less, highlighted by a 21-point comeback in a 38-35 win over Louisville.

For Johnson, he arrived at UCF in 2011 after transferring from the University of Miami. He sat out that year until recording 113 carries for 507 yards and four touchdowns in 2012 behind eventual Oakland Raiders draft pick Latavius Murray.

Then as the starter in 2013, Johnson exploded for 1,139 rushing yards on 213 carries for a 5.3 average. He also added 14 touchdowns on the ground. In the receiving game, he amassed 30 receptions for 260 yards and three scores.

In two seasons as a Knight, Johnson finished with 1,646 rushing yards on 326 attempts for a 5.0 average, delivering 18 touchdowns in the process. He was named the All-American Athletic Conference First Team running back in 2013.

UCF has had at least one Knight selected in the NFL Draft eight straight years. Daunte Culpepperstands as the school's highest pick when he was taken with the 11th overall selection by the Minnesota Vikings in 1999, which also is UCF's only quarterback taken in the draft. Culpepper is the only Knight to hear his name called in the first round as well.
