ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The first two plays from scrimmage certainly provided some insight into what type of team the Knights would be in 2013.

Widely known in the Orlando area but not yet a household name nationally, Blake Bortles took his first snap of the season vs. Akron at Bright House Networks Stadium and watched as the ball hit the turf only to have senior lineman Chris Martin recover the loose pigskin.

What happened next demonstrated how level-headed this group of Knights would be all season long, never letting a bad moment affect their mentality.

Bortles then dropped back on the next play and hit Breshad Perriman for the longest play from scrimmage in school history, a 91-yard touchdown to put the Knights up 7-0 only 58 seconds into the campaign.

Final score: UCF 38, Akron 7.
