ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - Rain may have pushed UCF's first practice of spring camp inside Nicholson Fieldhouse, but that did not stop the Knights from having a productive session Wednesday.

"We got a lot of work accomplished, a lot of reps done with everybody. I worked two full teams out there so it's 44 guys going at it and all three units got work," head coach George O'Learysaid. "There's a lot of kids that understand what we want to accomplish on the field from having been around for a number of years. The freshmen are the ones you worry about in keeping up with the pace of things as far as getting things done."

Several seniors from the 2013 squad along with former UCF wideouts Mike Sims-Walker and Jamar Newsomewere on hand, as well as media from the Orlando Sentinel, Central Florida Future, UCFSports.com, Associated Press, Valencia Voice, WFTV, WESH, Bright House Sports Network and Knightly News.

"It's a great feeling just to be back out on the field. I was pumped up this whole week coming off of spring break," senior wide receiver Rannell Hallsaid. "We have three young quarterbacks, so me being a veteran I'm stepping up to the plate and adjusting to the quarterbacks. I talk to them both on and off the field."

UCF was without pads Wednesday, and will keep them in the locker room again for practice No. 2 Friday before it will be allowed to bring them out Saturday.

"It felt good to get out there, running again with a purpose," said senior wide receiver Jackie Williams, who had to sit out 2013 after transferring from UAB. "Being able to come to a team where we went and had a great season, going to a BCS bowl and winning a BCS bowl, it really makes you want to go out there and help the team a lot."

All spring practices begin at 10 a.m. with the exception of March 22 which gets going at 1 p.m. Fans are reminded that cameras are not permitted on the practice fields.
