ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - On Sept. 19, the UCF football team will host Buffalo at Bright House Networks Stadium. This contest will serve as the first series matchup since 2002 when both teams were in the Mid-American Conference.

The Bulls are still members of the MAC and have won back-to-back MAC East titles. In 2008, the Bulls went 8-6 and played in their first bowl game, the International Bowl. Head coach Turner Gill controlled the offensive play calls, leading the Bulls to finish the season with a school-record 424 points. Gill was honored as the MAC Coach of the Year.

Offensive Player to Watch
Buffalo native Naaman Roosevelt was the first Bull to catch 100 passes in a season. An All-America candidate, he ranked among the top-10 wide receivers in the nation in several categories. In 2008, Roosevelt broke numerous school records by catching 108 passes for 1,402 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Defensive Player to Watch
The power of the Bulls' defense lies in the backfield. With four all-conference candidates returning in the secondary, safety Mike Newton has distinguished himself as a leader. Newton returned a 92-yard fumble for a touchdown in the MAC championship game against Ball State, earning him MVP honors. During the season, Newton totaled 112 tackles, 69 solo stops, seven pass breakups and two fumble recoveries.

Series Information
Since the series began in 1992, the Knights have dominated, holding a 5-1 record against the Bulls. UCF won each game averaging more than 32 points against the Bulls. In the last win (2002) the Knights posted 360 total yards vs. the Bulls 106 total yards. In 2005, UCF transferred from the Mid-American Conference to Conference USA.
