ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Another preseason honor rolled in for UCF quarterback Blake Bortles Friday, as the junior was selected for the Manning Award Watch List, sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl. The Oviedo native sits on four national watch lists.

Blake Bortles Preseason Honors
-Manning Award Watch List - Top QB in the Nation
-Davey O'Brien Award Watch List - Top QB in the Nation
-Maxwell Award Watch List - College Football's Player of the Year
-College Football Performance Awards Quarterback Trophy Watch List

This year's list of quarterbacks on the Manning Award Watch List was selected in conjunction with the release of ESPN's new Total Quarterback Rating (QBR) - the top 30 returning signal-callers according to the QBR make up the Watch List. The winner will be selected after the bowl games by a voting panel, which includes national media as well as Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates' bowl performances in its balloting.

Total QBR measures a quarterback's contributions to scoring on each play (passing, rushing, sacks, fumbles and penalties) accounting for game context (down, distance, yard line, time remaining and score) and adjusted for opponent strength. It is based on a 0-100 scale and 50 is average.

Bortles boasted a 72.9 QBR, which ranks 14th among the 30 quarterbacks on the list. That also put him first among all quarterbacks in the state of Florida, and second in the American behind only Louisville's Teddy Bridgewater (78.1).

A member of the All-Conference USA Second Team, Bortles completed 2012 as the Beef `O' Brady's Bowl MVP as well. In his first season as the starter, he was the first UCF quarterback since 2002 to post at least 3,000 yards as he finished with 3,059 yards, 25 touchdowns and only seven picks.

Bortles fell just shy of breaking Daunte Culpepper's school record by having a .0175 interception-to-attempt ratio (Culpepper's mark stands at .0174 in 1998).

For his career, Bortles has a 64.0 completion percentage and a 146.5 passer efficiency rating, while throwing for 31 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions.
