Watch the Press Conference
ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The opening of the 2008 UCF football preseason camp this week has garnered plenty of media attention. That certainly was evident when the Knights held their annual media day Tuesday at Bright House Networks Stadium, and the turnout was overwhelming.
Over 30 media members from the state of Florida converged on the UCF campus to get an inside look at the upcoming season with head coach George O'Leary, his assistant coaches and his players. Following the team picture held inside the stadium, O'Leary spoke to a packed media room for almost 28 minutes. UCF players then met with representatives from television stations, radio outlets, newspapers and websites on the concourse.
O'Leary's first questions of the day concerned the running back and quarterback positions.
"I've been very impressed with the talent out there in the first couple of days of practice," said O'Leary, who guided UCF to the Conference USA title and a spot in the Liberty Bowl in 2007. "When we get some pads on we'll find out more about them. And once we make a decision we'll move on. I think we just have to iron out who are the two or three guys we want to feature.
"At the quarterback position, I'll try and make a final decision on Sunday, but I don't like making a decision when they don't have pads on. You've got to get in pads to see who moves the football team. When I look at quarterbacks, I think the major point is who moves the chains and who puts points on the board. They'll get opportunities in the next three or four days of practice. I'd like to get that one done because I think that's probably the most critical thing to be answered."

UCF's first of 19 preseason practices took place on Monday, and the Black and Gold return to the fields Wednesday at 3:20 p.m.
Kickoff of the 2008 season is set for Aug. 30 at Bright House Networks Stadium against South Carolina State. The Knights will play six contests at the on-campus stadium.
