ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The fifth practice of the preseason marked an important step for UCF during its march to Aug. 29. Under mostly cloudy skies, the Knights took the field with full pads for the first time.

"Overall I wasn't displeased with the effort. That's what I look at is effort and enthusiasm," Head Coach George O'Leary said. "The tackling in space has got to get better. I didn't see guys waiting; I saw a lot of aggressive, missed tackles. You can fix those. It's the ones who are timid you have trouble fixing."
The 10th year head coach of the Knights also discussed the competition on the practice fields as well.
"We are still looking at some kids that probably aren't going to run with the ones and twos. We are inserting them right now, the freshmen, to see if they can get to the speed of the game and help us out," O'Leary said. "I like competition because it keeps everybody focused on getting better every day, or there's somebody there to replace you."
