If the contest is picked up by ABC, it will mark the Knights' first game in program history that they appear on network television.
Both UCF (3-0) and South Carolina (2-1) have byes this week, with the Knights coming off a 34-31 victory at Penn State and the Gamecocks taking down Vanderbilt, 35-25. The win over the Nittany Lions was UCF's third non-conference victory in the last four campaigns against a school from a BCS automatically-qualifying league (Georgia in 2010 and Boston College in 2011).
This will be the 26th game against a ranked opponent for the Black and Gold, and the first at home since defeating No. 13/12 Houston, 37-32, in 2009 for its first win against a top-25 program. It also will be the 19th contest for UCF vs. a team ranked in the top-15.
The meeting with the Gamecocks marks the seventh home game against a top-15 school, with three of those affairs taking place at Bright House Networks Stadium. That includes the venue's first game vs. No. 6 Texas in 2007, a 2009 battle with No. 9 Miami which set a stadium attendance record of 48,453 and the win over the Cougars in 2009.
This season marks the second straight year UCF has hosted a school from the SEC (Missouri in 2012), and the ninth time in 10 seasons under head coach George O'Leary that the Knights host at least one non-conference school from a BCS AQ league.
South Carolina leads the all-time series with UCF, 3-0, and this will be its first time to Orlando.
