Sept. 23, 2007
Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Following a 56-20 victory over Conference USA foe Memphis, the UCF football team received votes in both the USA Today Coaches' and Associated Press Top 25 week four polls released on Sunday. The Knights are off to a 2-1 start for the first time since 1998.
The Knights received four votes in the coaches' poll and five in the AP poll. It marked the first time UCF received votes in both polls since Week 13 of the 2005 season when the Knights were 8-3 and preparing to face Tulsa in the inaugural Conference USA Championship Game.
UCF was the only C-USA team receiving votes in either poll. The Knights set a school record and tied the league mark with seven rushing touchdowns in their victory over Memphis on Sept. 22. UCF held a 42-0 lead at halftime.
UCF opened the 2007 campaign with a 25-23 road win at NC State on Sept. 1. The victory was the first over a BCSAQ school since 2001 for the Knights.
The 2007 campaign is the Knights' first at their new on-campus stadium. Tickets for the remaining for four home games are still available and can be purchased by calling 407-UCF-1000. UCF plays Louisiana this Saturday, Sept. 29 in the first night game at the new stadium. Kick time is set for 6 p.m.
