ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com)– The UCF Knights (3-0, 0-0) have had more time than usual to prepare for the No. 12/13 South Carolina Gamecocks (2-1, 0-0). The team came off its first bye week of the season leading up to its home field contest against this SEC Conference opponent.
During that time, the players we’re able to get some extra work in the film room, catch up on school work and spend some time helping their bodies recover from UCF’s strong start to the season.
“Coming off a 3-0 start - we did a lot of hitting, a lot of running and a lot of bruising,” said junior tight end Justin Tukes (No. 84). “It gave us time to recover and got guys in the training room if they needed help. That made a tremendous difference since we were able to do that during the bye week.”
Many of the senior leaders even sent out texts messages to the entire team to make sure everyone was studying game film when they had free time.
“You can never watch too much film,” said redshirt senior offensive lineman Chris Martin (No. 70). “Any extra time that we can get is more beneficial to us to be able to know what they’re doing.”
“We come in on our own and watch film. Sometimes come in as a group and watch film before we have practice,” said junior safety Brandon Alexander (No. 37). “Just getting a jump on them was good for us and it was a good game plan so we’re ready for Saturday.”
