ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – On Saturday afternoon in Memphis, Tenn. UCF (3-1, 0-0) will play their first game in the American Athletic Conference. This is an opportunity for the Knights to establish themselves as one of the top teams in the newest conference in Division I football.
The Knights are excited about this new journey and are working hard to achieve success in The American.
“It’s a big opportunity and everyone is excited,” said senior defensive back Sean Maag (No. 31). “Our one goal as a team is first to win the next game, but our team goal is to win a conference championship.”
As a member of the American Athletic Conference, UCF is receiving more television exposure than in the past. For instance, the Knights played on network television for the first time last week when they hosted nationally-ranked South Carolina at Bright House Networks Stadium. The added exposure is one more aspect of the new conference affiliation that helps motivate the team.
“We come out here to work every day so we can win and get recognized,” said sophomore center Joey Grant (No. 55). “I feel like we’re starting to get the recognition that we deserve and were going to keep working and fighting every day.”
