ORLANDO, Fla. ( – Humble and hungry.

That’s the message UCF head coach George O’Leary has been giving to the No. 21/23 UCF Knights (5-1, 2-0) as they prepare to take on the UConn Huskies (0-6, 0-2) at Noon Saturday inside Bright House Networks Stadium.

“That’s what we need to be and that’s where we need to stay,” O’Leary said. “Humble. We had a good win, a good comeback win against an excellent football team. But it’s a long season. We’re only halfway through the season and I always talk about being humble and being hungry.”

This game will be UCF’s first American Athletic Conference home game and it will also be the first time the team has ever faced the Huskies.

“We have to come out fighting against UConn and stay focused and not lose that edge that we have,” said junior offensive lineman Torrian Wilson (No. 72).

UCF has reached the halfway point in the regular season and the Knights are now focused on their seventh “one-game season” as Coach O’Leary often calls them.

“We’re in a position where we can control our own destiny, which is huge, being tied at the top of the conference right now,” said junior quarterback Blake Bortles (No. 5). “Just to be able to stay focused and stay sharp week in and week out is the biggest thing. We can’t have any let down. We just need to do what we’re supposed to do.”

“We’re expecting their best effort and we’re going to get our best effort,” said Coach O’Leary.
