Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The offensive success by the UCF football team this season has brought more than victories on the field. The Knights' "Run for Ronald" partnership with McDonald's to raise money for the local Ronald McDonald House® program has also benefited. Through this program, Central Florida McDonald's operators donate $1 for each yard gained by the UCF offense and $100 for each touchdown scored by the Knights.
Through nine games of the Knights' 2007 campaign, the amount of money raised has already surpassed the entire 2006 season's total. Therefore to date in 2007, this program has raised $7,638. Since the RMHCCF cost is approximately $50 to house a family for one night, the current Central Florida McDonald's donation equates to approximately 152 nights of comfort and care for families with children in medical crisis in our community.
UCF fans can still take part in this year's "Run for Ronald" program by making a smaller contribution each time the Knights play by pledging one cent for each yard gained and $1 for each touchdown scored. Pledge cards are available and donations accepted at www.rmhccf.org. The 2007 game statistics and totals are available at http://ucfathletics.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/ucf-07-mcdonalds.html.
Tickets for UCF's final regular season home game vs. UTEP are still available and can be purchased by calling 407-UCF-1000. The Knights and Miners will face off on Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. at Bright House Networks Stadium.
