ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – UCF junior wide receiver J.J. Worton was all over SportsCenter and highlight shows nation-wide after his amazing, acrobatic, one-handed, late-game heroics Saturday. That touchdown catch, along with his nine other receptions and two other touchdowns, earned him American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors.

In all, Worton recorded 10 receptions for 179 yards and three touchdowns in the No. 17/20 Knights’ 39-36, come-from-behind victory at Temple Saturday afternoon. The 179 receiving yards marked a career-best for Worton and were the 13th-most single-game receiving yards in UCF history. Worton’s three touchdowns were a career-high, as well. It was Worton’s third 100-yard game this season. He now has 31 receptions for 500 yards and a team-leading seven touchdowns.

In addition to his conference award, Worton was named the National Wide Receiver of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA).

All three of Worton’s touchdown receptions Saturday either put UCF back in front or tied the game in the back-and-forth affair with Temple. His first came in the second quarter and lifted the Knights to a 19-14 lead. The second was midway through the fourth quarter, which put UCF on top 29-28. Then came the third, which made Worton a household name around the country on Saturday that tied the game at 36-36 with 1:06 remaining in the game and set the stage for the Knights game-winning field goal as the clock expired.

That game-winning field goal was booted by Shawn Moffitt, who tallied three three-pointers and was perfect on four point-after-touchdown kicks, as well on Saturday. Moffitt, a Lou Groza Award semifinalist, received American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll mention for his performance at Temple.

Moffitt also received honorable mention placekicker of the week accolades from the CFPA. Blake Bortles (Quarterback) and Rannell Hall (All-Purpose) also received honor roll mention from the CFPA in their weekly awards lists.
