ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The No. 15/17 UCF Knights (11-1, 8-0) started the year as one of the new kids in the American Athletic Conference, but ended the season as the AAC’s first-ever conference champion.
Saturday’s win against the SMU Mustangs in Dallas, Texas put the Knights’ record at a perfect 8-0 in conference play and earned them sole possession of the conference championship. This is the second conference championship UCF has won in the past four years and the first in a BCS conference.
“Coming into the conference we were always the underdogs,” said redshirt junior offensive lineman Torrian Wilson (No. 72). “That just drove us to work hard every day. We do what we can do every day as a team and today proved it.”
That hard work helped UCF in earn a spot in one of the four BCS Bowl games, which will be announced on Sunday evening. Fans can preorder their bowl tickets for the upcoming BCS game by clicking here.
