ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The BIG EAST Conference announced Tuesday the home and away opponents for the 2013 football season, and UCF will have an entertaining slate of games at Bright House Networks Stadium when it embarks on its first year in the league. The Knights will host in-state rival USF, Rutgers, Connecticut and Houston in 2013, while they will travel to Cincinnati, Louisville, SMU and Temple.

Dates and times for all BIG EAST games will be released when they are finalized. UCF will not take on fellow BIG EAST members Boise State, San Diego State and Memphis next year. The East and West division winners, determined by final conference record, will meet in the first BIG EAST Football Championship Game, which will be played at the home site of one of the division winners.

All three schools which shared the BIG EAST title in 2012 are on the Knights' schedule next season, as Cincinnati, Louisville and Rutgers tied with 5-2 league marks. Louisville claimed the BIG EAST's automatic bid to the Bowl Championship Series as it will rumble with Florida in the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

Below is a quick breakdown of UCF's future opponents.

Cincinnati - 2012 Record: 9-3, 5-2 BIG EAST
-Has won at least a share of the BIG EAST title four times in the last five years
-2012 Rankings: First in the league in scoring offense (tied with Louisville) and kickoff returns, and second in scoring defense
-2012 Postseason: Belk Bowl
-Series: First Meeting

Connecticut - 2012 Record: 5-7, 2-5 BIG EAST
-Most recent bowl game was the 2011 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl
-First joined the BIG EAST in 2004
-2012 Rankings: Seventh in the nation in rushing defense, while first in the league in sacks, punt returns, total defense and rushing defense
-Series: First Meeting

Houston - 2012 Record: 5-7, 4-4 C-USA
-Went undefeated in the C-USA regular season in 2011
-2012 Rankings: Places in the top two in C-USA in passing offense, total offense, sacks and tackles for loss
-UCF topped Houston at home in 2005 and 2009 as well as at UH in 2010, while the Cougars won on their home turf in 2006
-Series: UCF leads, 3-1

Louisville - 2012 Record: 10-2, 5-2 BIG EAST
-Will be making its second trip to a BCS bowl game in 2012
-2012 Rankings: First in the league in scoring offense (tied with Cincinnati) and pass defense - sophomore quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is eighth in the FBS in passing efficiency and 24th in total offense
-2012 Postseason: Allstate Sugar Bowl

Rutgers - 2012 Record: 9-3, 5-2 BIG EAST
-2012 Rankings: Sits in fourth in the nation and first in the BIG EAST in scoring defense, and is second in the league in turnover margin as well as total defense

-Defeated the Knights in the 2009 St. Petersburg Bowl
-Series: RU leads, 1-0

SMU - 2012 Record: 6-6, 5-3 C-USA
-2012 Rankings: First in C-USA in turnover margin, and in the top three in rushing defense and scoring defense
-2012 Postseason: Sheraton Hawaii Bowl
-Only win over UCF was in 2011 in Dallas - The Knights defeated the Mustangs this year, 42-17 in Orlando
-Series: UCF leads, 4-1

Temple - 2012 Record: 4-7, 2-5 BIG EAST
-Just completed its first season in the BIG EAST in 2012
-It will be UCF's first game in an NFL stadium since 2010 (Mercedes-Benz Superdome vs. Tulane) as Temple plays at Lincoln Financial Field, home of the Philadelphia Eagles
-2012 Rankings: Fourth in the FBS in net punting, and first in the BIG EAST in rushing offense
-Series: First Meeting

USF - 2012 Record: 3-9, 1-6 BIG EAST
-2012 Rankings: In the top four in the BIG EAST in rushing offense, net punting and sacks
-The two schools played each year from 2005-08, with both games in Orlando being decided by seven points highlighted by an overtime affair in 2008
-Attendance in the series: 2005 in Tampa - 45,139. 2006 in Orlando - 46,708. 2007 in Tampa - 65,948. 2008 in Orlando - 46,805

UCF currently is getting ready for its trip to the Beef `O' Brady's Bowl where it will take on Ball State Dec. 21 at 7:30 p.m. at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. The Knights are 9-4 and claimed the Conference USA East Division title for the fourth time in eight seasons in the league. The Cardinals, meanwhile, are 9-3 with all three defeats coming to teams with two losses or less (Northern Illinois, Kent State, Clemson).
