GAINESVILLE, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) -- The No. 5-ranked UCF men's golf team posted the best round of the day in Sunday's third and final round of the SunTrust Gator Invitational. With a 275 Sunday, the Knights moved from eighth place to fourth by the end of the touranment, which was held at the Mark Bostick Golf Course on the campus of the University of Florida.
UCF ended up finishing +23, while eventual tournament champion No. 20 Arkansas was +9. Second place was held down by No. 21 Florida State (+15), while No. 16 Vanderbilt (+18) was third in the 14-team event. No. 8 UAB rounded out the top five at +28.
Greg Eason paced the Knights with a third-place finish. He posted a final round 68 to move to 1-under for the tournament. Eason was one of only three golfers to finish under par in the tournament. Mercer's Trey Rule and Hank Lebioda of Florida State tied for first place, with Rule winning in a tie-breaker.
Linus Vaisanen finished in a tie for 10th for the Knights, after posting a third-round 65, which was easily the best individual score of the day. Vaisanen was +4 for the event. Ricardo Gouveia finished tied for 22nd, while Kyle Wilshire was tied for 42nd and Ryan Stovash came in tied for 60th.
The Knights will be in action again at the John Hayt Invitational Feb. 23-25 in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
