Ponte Vedra, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF men's golf team earned a share of fourth place with a three-round total of 899 (+35) at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational. The Knights concluded the three-day event at the Par 72, 6,805-yard Sawgrass Country Club with a team score of 300 (+12).

Alabama won the event by 10 strokes over fellow SEC-foe Vanderbilt and Coastal Carolina, who tied for second with scores of 891 (+27). The Knights shared fourth with fellow Conference USA member UAB, UCLA and Georgia State.

Local product Preston Brown (Ponte Vedra, Fla./Nease) carded the team's best round for the second day in a row with a two-over 74. Brown, a sophomore, moved up in the individual standings after the second and third rounds to end the tournament in a tie for 15th.

Brown's classmate Greg Forest (Palm City, Fla./Martin County) was the top Golden Knight finisher, placing fifth by himself with a three-round total of 219 (+3). The top 10 finish was Forest's second of his career - as a freshman he tied for second at the 2006 UCF/Rio Pinar Collegiate Invitational.

Junior Giwon Suh (Orlando, Fla./Olympia) finished just outside the top 10, tying for 11th with a total score of 223 (+7). Suh made five birdies during his round.

Freshmen Mike Stern (Miami, Fla./Killian), who tied for 51st with a three-round total of 232 (+16), and Nuno Henriques (Funchal, Portugal/The Pendleton School) also were in the line-up for the Golden Knights. Henriques ended the tournament in a tie for 72nd (239, +23).

The Golden Knights return to the links at the Seminole Intercollegiate, March 4-6.
