PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) -- The No. 6-ranked UCF men's golf team is in second place, just three strokes back of No. 2 Oklahoma State, after two rounds of play at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational at Sawgrasa Country Club.
The first round of the event concluded Monday morning, after being suspended due to darkness on Sunday. The second round was then completed later in the day Monday. The Knights were in third place after the first round. But UCF improved by 10 strokes, turning in a 280 for the second round to go 9-under for the day and 10-under for the tournament.
UCF senior Greg Eason is just one stroke off the lead in the race for individual medalist honors. He carded the best score of Round 2 Monday, recording a 7-under 65 in the second round, after being 1-under (71) in the first round. The individual leader after two rounds was UAB's Sam Love, who is currently 9-under.
Federico Zucchetti is 2-under for the tournament and is currently tied for ninth, while Ricardo Gouveia is even par after two rounds and is tied for 18th. Kyle Wilshire is tied for 27th (+2). Linus Vaisanen is tied for 41st (+5). Rounding out the Knights' lineup is Ryan Stovash (+12).
