ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - UCF senior Ricardo Gouveia finished tied for 10th at the Jones Cup Invitational, held this weekend at the Ocean Forest Golf Club in Sea Island, Ga. Teammate and fellow senior Greg Eason also took part, finishing in a tie for 21st place.

Ninety of the top junior male golfers in the country take part and are invited based on numerous criteria, including collegiate rankings, amateur rankings, AJGA rankings and others.

Gouveia finished 6-over for the tournament and was four strokes off the pace, set by Jones Cup Invitational champion Austin Connelly of Irving, Texas, who finished 2-over. Gouveia opened the three-round event with a score of 75 and he improved by one stroke each round, carding a 74 in Saturday's second round and turning in a 1-over 73 in Sunday's final round.

Eason struggled Sunday, but entered the final round tied for the lead in the event. He opened with one of the best rounds of the tournament, turning in a 2-under 70. His 2-over 74 left him at even par heading into the final round. But he was 9-over Sunday and finished seven strokes off the lead.

The UCF men's golf team, which is ranked No. 6 in the nation, will open the spring portion of its 2013-14 season Feb. 15-16 at the Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla.
