ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced the 2014 Division I Ping All-Region Teams this week. UCF Seniors Greg Eason and Ricardo Gouveia were both named to the Southeast Team.
The GCAA honored a total of 157 players across six regions for 2014 iteration of the award. Eason and Gouveia led the Knights this season combining for 10 of the teams best finishes in 11 events.
Eason was named to the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Men's Golfer of the Year and First Team All-Conference. He took medalist honors twice in regular season play winning both the John Hayt Invitational and the 3M Augusta Invitational. Eason also won the 2013 South Beach International Amateur Championship in December and has earned an exemption to play on the PGA TOUR Canada for 2014 where he will begin his professional career. He led the Knights with a 70.2 season scoring average and 10 top 10 finishes.
Gouveia was also named AAC First Team All-Conference and is currently playing as in individual in the NCAA Championship at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan. He finshed in the top 10 eight times this season and took home medalist honors at the FAU Slomin Invite where he turned in a 203 (-10), the best 3-day total by any Knight this season. Gouveia was also selected to represent Portugal as a member of team Europe at the 2014 Palmer Cup.
