ORLANDO, Fla. ( – UCF head men’s golf coach Bryce Wallor has announced the signing of Manuel Elvira Mijares to a national letter-of-intent. A native of Santander, Spain, he will join the Knights’ program for the 2014-15 season.

Elvira Mijares is currently listed at No. 581 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking.

“We are very excited to have signed Manuel in the spring semester,” Wallor said. “Manuel comes from a great family and he appears to be very focused on being a complete student-athlete. We look forward to the contribution he will make for UCF, both in the classroom and on the golf course.”

Elvira Mijares tied for ninth place at the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Junior Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass this past September. The Junior Players Championship is of the AJGA’s top invitation-only events each season. He also tied for ninth during the stroke-play portion of the 2013 British Boys Amateur Championship back in August, while advancing to the Round of 32 in match play.

At the 2013 International European Amateur Championship, he finished in a tie for 24th place.

This spring, Elvira Mijares brought home Top 20 finishes at the Campeonato de Barcelona, the Campeonato de Espnana U18 and the Campeonato de Madrid.
