ORLANDO, Fla. ( – UCF head men’s golf coach Bryce Wallor has had a happy homecoming for three years straight, taking his Knights team to the Adams Cup of Newport, which is hosted by the University of Rhode Island.

Wallor, who played at Rhode Island and is from the area, has coached his team to the title at the event in each of the past three years. The Knights will be looking for a fourth straight victory at the event, which will be held Monday and Tuesday at the Orchard Course at Newport National Golf Club.

“I grew up there, my family’s there, so I know the golf courses fairly well,” Wallor said. “They’ve shifted the tournament around to three different clubs, but growing up there, I kind of know them all. I think we have a distinct advantage in course knowledge, other than the home team. We’ve had some success because of that and because we have a pretty good team.”

Wallor’s lineup this week will mirror last week’s group, which won the Northern Intercollegiate in Sugar Grove, Ill. Greg Eason, Ricardo Gouveia, Linus Vaisanen, Ryan Stovash and Kyle Wilshire will tee it up for the Knights, while Federico Zucchetti will also be taking part, but as an individual.

“I think we’ve got a nice team this year,” Wallor said. “Greg Eason is off to a very good start again this year. Ricardo Gouveia had a very impressive golf tournament. Kyle Wilshire, a senior, shot 70 and birdied his last two holes to help us make our way to that championship (last week). Ryan Stovash, a freshman, got the ball up and down from about 190 yards on the last hole. Without all of those things, we wouldn’t have won that tournament. I thought it was a great team effort. I was happy from 1-6. I think they’re doing a good job and we’re excited to go see what we can do at the Adams Cup.”
