Schneider Earns Spot on Tour

LA QUINTA, Calif. ( – Former Knight Brad Schneider earned an exemption to play in at least the first eight 2014 Tour events Tuesday.

Taking part in the final stage of the Tour Qualifying Tournament, Schneider placed 14th. The medalist earned full exempt status on the tour for 2014, while those placing in second through 10th (including ties) are exempt for the first 12 events and those finishing 11th through 45th will be exempt for the first eight events.

The final qualifying stage was held at the TPC West Stadium Course and lasted six rounds. Schneider was under par in five of the six rounds and carded totals of par or better in all six rounds. He finished 18-under par for the tournament.

Schneider wrapped up his UCF career after the 2011-12 season. During his career with the Knights, Schneider won the 2012 David Toms Award from the Golf Coaches Association of America for overcoming adversity. He was a first-team All-Conference USA honoree and a member of the PING All-Southeast Region team in 2012. Schneider helped lead UCF to a fifth-place finish at the 2012 NCAA Regional Tournament in Stanford, Calif., which earned the Knights a spot in the NCAA Championships field.

In addition to his 2011-12 accolades, Schneider was a two-time second-team All-Conference USA selection during his collegiate career and was also a member of the C-USA All-Freshman team.

In addition to Schneider, former Knight Connor Arendell also took part in the final round of qualifying. Arendell finished the tournament 4-under and was tied for 95th.
