ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's soccer team is set to conclude its spring schedule at home on Monday, April 12, facing the U.S. U-17 National Team at 5:30 p.m. at the UCF Soccer Complex. The Knights will be playing the national team on its home turf, marking the first time that a national team has visited UCF for a game.
The national team consists of the top players in the country for their age group, and the members partake in a residency program at IMG Academy in Bradenton. Players from all over the country live at the academy, and go to school and train every day.
"We are excited and honored to welcome the U17 National Team to our university," head coach Bryan Cunningham said. The team is hand selected by the U.S. Soccer Federation and the players have been given a great opportunity represent their country on soccer fields all over the world."
The Knights have had a very active and productive spring season thus far against stiff competition, facing MLS teams Toronto FC, FC Dallas and the Houston Dynamo, as well as competing against St. Leo University and the newly-formed Tampa Bay Rowdies of the North American Soccer League.
Admission to Monday's contest is free and the UCF coaches would like to invite the local central Florida community to come out and support UCF as well as our national team.
