ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF head men's soccer coach Bryan Cunningham announced his program's 2009 recruiting class on Thursday, with 12 players having signed National Letters of Intent (NLIs) to join the Knights beginning in the fall. The class includes five players from the state of Florida, three from New Zealand and one apiece from Georgia, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Washington.

"We are excited about this group of incoming student-athletes," said Cunningham. "We had a few needs to address, and I strongly feel this group of players more than fulfill those needs. I am excited to have them join our returning players to build on our successes of 2008."

Accomplishments
• Played his freshman campaign at North Carolina State
• Named all-state and all-county as a senior
• Was also his team's defensive MVP after guiding his team to a 21-5-1 record as a senior
• Also an all-state and all-conference football player for two seasons

Finlay Milne

Palmerston, New Zealand (Palmerston North Boys' HS)
Youngheart Manuatu/New Zealand U-20 National Team

Accomplishments
• Marist Palmerston North Club Player of the Year in 2008
• Played for New Zealand against New Caledonia in a World Cup qualifier in Tahiti
• Also played cricket, hockey, basketball, track

Ben Hunt

Auckland, New Zealand (Macleans College)
Waikato FC/New Zealand U-20 National Team

Accomplishments
• As a junior was named the player of the year for the Auckland Secondary Schools Premier Division
• Named the Division II Player of the Year and helped his team win the Auckland Secondary Schools championship
• Played on both the New Zealand U-17 and U-20 national teams
• Helped Waikato FC to the New Zealand football championships

 

 

William Hunt

• Scored 17 goals and 10 assists as a senior
• Named to the First Coast Senior All-Star team
• Tallied 17 goals and 11 assists as a junior

Nicholas Keown-Robson

Accomplishments
• Scored 22 goals as a senior
• Tallied 35 combined markers
• Played for New Zealand against New Caledonia in a World Cup qualifier in Tahiti

Adam Kraemer
5-9 • Defender/Midfielder

Accomplishments
• Named the team MVP for offense as a junior and the team MVP for defense as a sophomore
• Also tabbed All-Broward County as a junior
• Says his biggest thrill as an athlete to date is scoring the game-winning goal in the district final

Michele Martucci
6-1 • Midfielder

United States U-20 Men's National Team

Accomplishments
• Has played for the Southern Soccer Coalition, IMG Academy, Clearwater Chargers, SAA Real Madrid and Miami FC
• Member of the U.S. U-20 men's national team
• Also ran track and cross country and was the national and state champion in the 800-, 1,500- and 3,000-meter runs

Michael Nwiloh

Accomplishments
• Scored the first goal in a 2-1 comeback win in the finals of the 2007 Disney Soccer Showcase
• Was an all-county track runner as a junior in high school
• Won the region championship in the 200-meter dash and was the runner-up in the 400-meter dash and the 1600-meter relay
• Member of the Beta Club

Andrew Quintana

• Member of the U.S. U-18 men's national team during his senior year
• Named second-team all-county and team MVP as a junior

Malcolm Reed

Accomplishments
• Named the SCISA Player of the Year after a junior season in which he scored 16 goals and 10 assists
• Also named his team MVP and to the SCISA regional team
• Selected to the Palmetto Cup All-Tournament team during his sophomore campaign
• Won nine state championships in high school (five in soccer, four in basketball)

Dillon Saffle

Accomplishments
• Named All-Kingco as a sophomore
• Named the varsity MVP as a freshman
• Was the goalkeeper on the U-18 men's national team
• Also a four-year member of the men's basketball and football teams

Jeffrey Simmons
5-9 • Midfielder/Forward
Monroeville, Pa. (Gateway Senior HS)
Penns Forest/Allegheny Force

Accomplishments
• Was named the Pittsburgh East Boys Player of the Year as a senior after scoring 23 goals and 16 assists
• As a junior scored 25 goals and 16 assists as a junior
• Also played basketball, baseball, football and track in high school
